Union Minister of Food Processing Industries, Shri Chirag Paswan, recently visited the Meghalaya Pavilion at World Food India 2024, held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. He was impressed by Meghalaya’s growth in the food processing sector, particularly in organic cultivation, and praised the government’s initiatives ¹.
Shri Paswan highlighted the Meghalaya Collectives, an innovative approach to promote farmer producer organizations, rural entrepreneurship, and sustainable agriculture practices. The Meghalaya Pavilion showcased 21 food processing brands and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), featuring value-added products made from local produce like Lakadong Turmeric, Khasi Mandarin, and Kew Pineapple.

Promote sustainable agriculture practices and market linkages
Enhance farmers’ income and improve agricultural productivity
