JOWAI;
To ensure smooth operation of the Krangsuri Tourist Site amid an ongoing land dispute, the District Tourism Promotion Society (DTPS) has introduced a temporary Standard Operational Procedure (SOP).
The move comes in compliance with the Meghalaya High Court’s order in WP (C) No. 286 of 2024, dated September 5, 2024. The SOP outlines measures for managing the tourist facilities, including fee collection, staff wages, and police deployment to prevent interference.
The DTPS will oversee the site’s management, with a separate bank account for Krangsuri funds and quarterly audits to ensure transparency. The SOP will remain in effect until the land dispute is resolved by the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) Executive Committee.
This temporary measure aims to ensure that tourists can continue to visit the site without disruption, while the dispute is being adjudicated.
