In view of the upcoming General Election to the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council, 2025 and to ensure peaceful conduct of Election through compliance of the Model Court of Conduct, the District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills in exercise of the power conferred under Section 163 BNSS has prohibited carrying cash exceeding Rs. 50,000/- (fifty thousand) in the district during the upcoming Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council.
The order also prohibits wall writing, pasting of poster/paper or any form of defacement, as well as erecting and displaying of cut-outs, hoardings, banners, erection flagstaffs, etc on any public property without prior permission from appropriate authority. Political parties or candidates are also not allowed to put up banners on roads/ thoroughfares, or make use of individual’s land, building compound walls without permission from appropriate authority.
Election meetings, rallies and procession will not be allowed without prior permission from the appropriate authority. No PA system will be allowed between 10.00 Pm to 6.00 Am. The use of PA system or loud speakers without permission from authorised authority is prohibited.
