SHILLONG:
The State Government of Meghalaya, in partnership with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), organized a meeting in Shillong today, November 18, 2024. The event aimed to strengthen the Public Distribution System (PDS) and enhance food security in the state.
The meeting was attended by Coming One Ymbon, Minister in Charge of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, and Ms. Elisabeth Faure, Country Director of the United Nations World Food Programme (UN-WFP).
Discussions centered around current PDS challenges, areas for improvement, and innovative technologies to enhance transparency and accountability in the PDS supply chain. The meeting also focused on formulating a collaborative roadmap aligned with Meghalaya’s food security objectives.
The initiative includes sharing best practices from other states and global insights on successful WFP models implemented nationwide.
