JOWAI:
During a naka checking operation at 8th mile, bordering East Jaintia Hills, on Thursday evening, Jowai Police apprehended two individuals and seized a significant quantity of contraband substances.
The arrested individuals were identified as Haniki Lamare of Mynthong, Jowai, and Augustine Ryngkhlem of Kyndongtuber village.
According to the police, a Maruti car (ML11-1883) was detained during the vehicle checking, and its occupants were found to be behaving suspiciously, leading to the suspicion that they were carrying contraband substances. Upon thorough inspection, the police seized:
– 8.25 grams of suspected heroin
– 22.3 grams of Nitro zepam
– A cash amount of Rs. 16,745
A case has been registered against the duo in accordance with the law, and further investigation is underway.
