KHLIEHRIAT :
With an aim to sensitizing the public on the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme and the newly launched Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (PMTBMBA), the office of the District Tuberculosis Officer, Jaintia Hills in collaboration with Star Cement Limited, Lumshnong under its CSR initiatives today organized Food Distribution Programmes under the Community Support Scheme for TBP atients at Khliehriat Civil Hospital, Khliehriat and Sutnga CHC, Sutnga respectively.
The programme at Khliehriat Civil Hospital was attended by the District Medical & Health Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, Dr D. Shylla in the presence of Medical Officer in-charge Khliehriat Civil Hospital, Dr. A Lakiang, Medical Officer in-charge Tuberculosis Centre Jowai, Dr D.S Tariang, Manager-CSR, Star Cement Limited, Lumshnong, Kingshok K. Borah and several others.

During the programme at Khliehriat Civil Hospital said that Tuberculosis is a communicable disease that has long been in existence even as he also highlighted the initiatives of the government to eliminate TB disease from the country.
Speaking on the initiatives of the government to eliminate TB, Dr Shylla also urged the gathering to know their status regarding TB disease by getting themselves tested even as he informed them on the availability of free medicines provided by the government to TB patients. Further, he also urged the patients to regularly take their dosage of medicines as instructed by the concerned heath supervisors in the interest of their health and well-being
and to prevent the spread of Tuberculosis to other family members.
Additionally, he also expressed his sincere gratitude to the Star Cement Limited, Lumshnong for sponsoring the food items that are being distributed to the patients.
Meanwhile, Manager-CSR, Star Cement Limited, Lumshnong, Shri Kingshok K. Borah spoke on matters relating to TB patients even as he emphasized that Star Cement Limited, Lumshnong is committed to provide all possible assistance to TB patients in East Jaintia
Hills District.
Others who spoke during the program include Medical Officer in-charge Khliehriat Civil Hospital, Dr. A Lakiang and District Programme Coordinator, P. Susngi. After the programme,
packages of food items including rice, mustard oil, eggs and others were distributed to 18 patients present at the occasion.
In the programme held at Sutnga CHC, packages of food items including rice,
mustard oil, eggs etc were distributed to 27 patients present at the occasion.
Present during the programme at Sutnga CHC were Medical & Health Officer in- charge Sutnga CHC, Dr L. Sutnga, Senior Tuberculosis Laboratory Supervisor (STLS), Watson Siangshai, Senior Treatment Supervisor (STS), Linus Manner, Manager-CSR, Star Cement Limited, Lumshnong, Shri Kingshok K. Borah and several other health officials.
During the programme it was also informed by the health officials that 100 TB patients in East Jaintia Hills District have received nutritional support under the Community Support Scheme sponsored by Star Cement Limited, Lumshnong
