Residents of several villages, including Lakadong Village to Borkhat, Natbor Village, Pdieng Wahkhriem, Demlaang, Kwator, and Hingaria Village in East Jaintia Hills District, have lodged a complaint regarding the poor condition of the RBB Road.
Marshall Biam, a concerned resident, submitted a complaint to the Executive Engineer, PWD (Rds), NEC Division, Khliehriat, on August 23, seeking immediate attention.
“For months, we’ve endured heavy, incessant rainfall, turning the road into a mesh of potholes.
This has made transportation and communication impossible for the general public, causing great difficulty and hardship for locals to travel between villages, especially during medical emergencies. The horrible road condition has even led to loss of life at times,” Marshall Biam stated.
He urged the concerned authorities, including the Deputy Commissioner and PWD department, to take the matter seriously and repair the road immediately, as it has severely impacted the locals’ lives. Despite previous appeals to the PWD authorities in East Jaintia Hills, no action has been taken.
Biam warned that if the PWD department fails to repair the road promptly, the residents will be forced to take their own course of action.
