World Food India 2024, held in New Delhi from September 19-22, has concluded with a resounding success, particularly for Meghalaya’s local farmers and entrepreneurs. The Meghalaya Pavilion was a major highlight, attracting significant interest from leading food processing investors, including ZEPTO, Big Basket, Lulu Group International, PepsiCo, Patanjali Food, Mother Dairy, and National Cooperative Organics Limited (NCOL)
The pavilion witnessed fruitful meetings with renowned companies, exploring potential collaborations that underscored the interest in Meghalaya’s food processing sector. Representatives from various states and countries visited the Meghalaya Pavilion, recognizing the state’s growth potential in the food sector business ¹.
The Meghalaya Collectives initiative aims to enhance farmers’ income, improve agricultural productivity, and promote Meghalaya’s organic products. The event promoted sustainable agriculture practices, rural entrepreneurship, and farmer-producer organizations.
Meghalaya’s local products, such as Lakadong Turmeric, Khasi Mandarin, and Kew Pineapple, gained international recognition.
The Meghalaya government’s initiative, Meghalaya Collectives, showcased 20 exclusive brands and value-added products.
Reena Nongrum, founder of Mewan Food Processing, emphasized the importance of women empowerment and utilizing Meghalaya’s natural resources. Dawhoi Dhar, founder of Naki, appreciated the opportunity to connect with foreign customers and potential investors. Namshrang Ruddiee Diengdoh, owner of Nongrep, expressed gratitude to the state government for the platform to showcase local products.
The event has paved the way for Meghalaya’s local farmers and entrepreneurs to access new markets, technology, and investments, boosting the state’s food processing sector.
