Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated SEMICON India 2024, a three-day conference aimed at showcasing India’s semiconductor strategy and policy.
In his address, Modi emphasized India’s goal of becoming a global hub for semiconductors, saying the country’s semiconductor sector is on the brink of a revolution.
Modi highlighted India’s unique strengths, including its aspirational market, growing manufacturing base, and reformist government. He announced several initiatives to boost the sector, including the Semicon India Program, Critical Mineral Mission, and Semiconductor Research Center.
The Prime Minister expressed his vision of making India a global leader in semiconductor design, manufacturing, and technology development. He emphasized the importance of semiconductors in driving innovation and economic growth, saying “India’s semiconductor ecosystem is a solution not just for India’s challenges but also for global challenges.”
The conference has brought together top global leaders and companies from the semiconductor industry, with over 250 exhibitors and 150 speakers participating.
Modi’s inauguration marks a significant step towards realizing India’s ambition of becoming a major player in the global semiconductor industry.
