The Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) has unanimously approved the amendment bill known as ‘The Jaiñtia Hills Autonomous District (Constitution of District Council) (Amendment) Bill, 2024” during the second day of the Special Session held today.
The Bill was introduced on Wednesday by the JHADC Chief, Thombor Shiwat in the house of 30 members.
The Bill introduced is related to the delimitation of 29 District Council Constituencies as part of the preparation for up comming ADCs Elections in Meghalaya expected to held on the month of January – February.
Today, in the first seating of the session during morning hours, members of the house took parts in the thorough discussion of the Bill and in the second seating all members of the houses approved the passing of the Bill.
The Bill will be sent to the District Councils Affairs, Government of Meghalaya before it got assented by the Governor.
